Coppedge Seeks Sex Trafficking Survivor’s Freedom and Justice for Future Victims

KH attorney Susan Coppedge, Former Ambassador at Large for the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the U.S. Department of State, is representing child sex trafficking survivor Tiffany Simpson in her fight to be released from jail.  At age 17, Ms. Simpson was prosecuted by the State of Georgia and sentence to 30 years in prison for a crime committed as a direct result of being trafficked.  Coppedge was recently mentioned in a feature piece for The Lily, a story that examines how survivors of trafficking end up incarcerated and solutions to prevent jailing those that are crime victims not perpetrators.  Andrea Powell, co-founder and executive director of Karana Rising, is leading the fight nationwide to prevent the wrongful imprisonment of survivors.
