Jessica Cino speaks on ongoing legal issues during the pandemic related to the rise in COVID cases. According to Cino, “A lot of what was in place earlier were short term fixes that expired, Employees have less federal protection, but some options remain.
People suffering from long-haul COVID symptoms might ultimately receive protection under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but there a lot of unanswered questions. In the meantime, employers are encouraged to be flexible and allow remote work, if possible. But for service-sector jobs that require an employee to be in-person, there are few options outside of taking sick days, vacation time, or unpaid leave. And some or all of those options may not be available depending on eligibility.”
