Major victory for Georgia voters seeking to vote safely and securely by mail in November
Granting relief sought by The New Georgia Project and individual voters, federal judge Eleanor Ross ordered state and county election officials to “accept and count otherwise valid absentee ballots” postmarked by Election Day and received up to three days after Election Day. Georgia law previously allowed ballots received after 7pm on Election Day to be disregarded, even if mailed before Election Day. The motion for preliminary injunction was filed by Perkins Coie and Krevolin & Horst.
