Krevolin & Horst Attorneys Recognized as Top in Georgia

Krevolin & Horst is pleased to have four attorneys recognized among the 2013 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Congratulations to Super Lawyers Douglas P. Krevolin, Jeffrey D. Horst, and Barbara H. Gallo, and also to Rising Star Christopher E. Adams. No more than five percent of the lawyers in Georgia are selected by Super Lawyers, and this is especially an accomplishment for attorneys from a small firm.

Barbara Gallo, Partner and head of the firm’s environmental practice, has been recognized as a Top 10 Georgia Super Lawyer for 2013. Additionally, she has been honored as a Super Lawyer for the 10th consecutive year. Barbara’s depth of knowledge in environmental law is acknowledged and admired by both clients and peers alike. She represents business clients and local governments in matters of environmental law and litigation. Barbara handles permitting, compliance, and enforcement matters; advises on the development and implementation of sustainable practices; advises on legislative and rulemaking issues; assists in corporate and real estate transactions, including brownfield transactions and the placement and monetization of conservation easements; and handles civil and administrative litigation. Prior to going into private practice in 1996, Barbara served in the Georgia Department of Law’s Environmental Division as a senior assistant attorney general where she handled enforcement matters as well as assisted in drafting key legislation such as the Georgia Hazardous Site Response Act, commonly known as the State Superfund Law.

Jeffrey Horst, Partner and senior litigator at the firm, has been honored as a Top 100 Georgia Super Lawyer for 2013. This is the 9th consecutive year that he has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer. A business litigation attorney, he represents businesses involved in litigation regarding corporate governance, accounting malpractice, contracts, insurance coverage, intellectual property, trade secrets and securities. Jeff is well-known for his successful track record of handling complex, high-profile trial and appellate cases throughout the nation. He has tried cases in five states, including Avent v. Wyle (2009), achieving a jury verdict that The National Law Journal deemed as a one of the top 10 defense verdicts of the year. Many of his cases have received media attention in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Law Journal, the Atlanta Business Chronicle and others.

Douglas Krevolin, Managing Partner and head of the firm’s corporate and real estate practices, has been honored as a Georgia Super Lawyer for the 9th consecutive year. Doug has been recognized by his clients and peers for his creative, proactive representation. For more than 30 years, he has focused his practice on representing entrepreneurs, corporations and other business entities, real estate developers and lenders. He has handled a vast array of commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, development, sales, leasing and financing matters. He also serves as outside general counsel to a number of businesses in the area on business formation, financing, acquisitions and sales, contracts and corporate governance.

Christopher Adams, an associate at the firm, has been selected as a Rising Star in 2013. A business litigation attorney, he focuses his practice on education law, commercial litigation, and appeals. The seeds of his legal career were sown while he was an elementary school teacher with Teach For America, inspiring him to investigate the extensive fields of education law and financial law, which he has written about at length; some of his work has been published in prestigious legal volumes such as the Emory Law Journal and the Journal of Child Welfare. Chris remains active in the Atlanta education community. He is on the site selection committee for a charter school in Atlanta and is an active member of the Young Professionals for Education Equity.
